Welcome to This Side of Sunshine! This is a blog about life, illness, cancer, family, faith, hope, death, and healing. It’s a blog about moving forward in life. It’s a story about a family, and what we learned in our journey along the path of life.

In October 2017 my wife (Lyn) and I planned to write this blog together, however, due to the process of going through cancer treatments, appointments, and simply trying to enjoy life, left very little time to dedicate to our blog.

Lyn and I were were together 32 years in total, and nearly 30 years as a married couple. Twenty-seven years into our marriage, she was stricken with stage four metastatic lung to brain melanoma cancer. She also suffered a stroke caused by the cancer, and went through months of speech therapy.

While Lyn left this world behind in June, 2019, her amazing legacy lives on. It was our desire to chronicle her two-plus year journey (and that of our family) and bring hope to those who are battling cancer, a caregiver, or even someone going through any kind of grief.

Every journey and battle is different. When I write, I am just sharing the story as we went through it. While I am the one writing these posts, Lyn’s inspirational life, determination, and faith is interwoven through each post. As you read this blog, I hope and pray that it speaks to you, because Lyn wanted her journey to help others going through rough times in life.

Please consider sending the link to someone that could benefit from our journey.
